Frida Kahlo In her flowered gown Sleeping softly in the sun Under white clouds Are we reckless now Losing pieces of ourselves Oh, my love I am not who I thought I'd become Oh, oh my love Do you think we're better on our own All alone Like, Vincent Van Gogh In his yellow house Pacing shadow in the dark Under blue clouds Are we lonelier now Than we were Oh, my love I am not who I thought I'd become Oh, oh my love I am almost ready to give in To give in To begin

I see the way you look at me Across the room You're all alone I notice all the subtleties in front of me You wanted me to know You can have it if you want it You can come get it You can have it if you want it right now You can have it if you want it You can come get it You can have it if you want me too I see the way you undress You tell me that you want me close I want to see the shapes you make The way you wake She turns to me and she says You can have it if you want it You can come get it You can have it if you want it right now You can have it if you want it You can come get it You can have it if you want me tonight I am waiting for you Oh, to say the words I'm ready for you to take it In my ear again You can have it if you want it You can come get it You can have it if you want it right now You can have it if you want it You can come get it You can have it if you want me tonight You can have it if you want it You can come get it You can have it if you want it right now You can have it if you want it You can come get it You can have it if you want me tonight

Love, I’ve been thinking What’s this life that we’re living It’s true, I’ve been untrue It’s not fair, but I told you, don’t keep me here Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep again Love, what you thinking We’ve been trying Been persistent It’s not like we can see the future It’s not like I believe in fate Oh you’ve been Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep again Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep again No one knows what’s in your soul So try to let it go Love, what are we doing True, we’re only human It’s not like we can change the past It’s not like I can take it back Oh, you’ve been Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep again Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep again Oh you’ve been Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep again Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep Crying in your sleep again

I won’t let you down my love I won’t fall apart again I may have my doubts my love But I won’t let you down again Things are looking up I’m looking up at you I finally found a way up I want to hear you sing I want the world to stay up I’ll never bring you down I’ll only lift you up You are a part of me Things are looking up I won’t let you down my love I won’t fall apart again I may have my doubts my love But I won’t let you down again Things are looking up I fell apart last year I thought we’d never make up I can’t believe you’re here I hope I never wake up I want to let you know I’ll never fuck this up I won’t let you down my love I won’t fall apart again I may have my doubts my love But I won’t let you down again Things are looking up

You should know that I feel you now That I carry you all around Through the maze of veins you’ll circulate Til the blood is crystalline You should know that I hear your voice In the silence between the noise In the songs you bring I can hear you sing with the unheard choir Our bodies disconnect There’s always something left You should know that I see you here Where the faces disappear In the empty space you congregate With the souls in serpentine In the embers of my dreams I can keep you here with me So I hold you close I won’t let go in the final hour Our bodies disconnect There’s always something left Even when our minds won’t recollect There’s never nothing left You’ll never be alone

about

Written largely in Paris and Berlin, UP was originally the foundation of a third full-length album from Iska Dhaaf. The duo spent several months exploring new cities, going to underground clubs, all while challenging their approach to songwriting. After surviving the Paris attacks, a few subsequent tours, and experiencing a wave of new inspiration, UP was lost in the shuffle. Recently, with the help of co-producer Sam Miller, the band finished the final touches on this unique set of songs that see the duo in transition, grappling their own future. If their first two albums Even the Sun Will Burn (2014) and The Wanting Creature (2016) were dark and ambitious, UP sees a band truly growing into its name.

The EP’s 5 tracks span a great deal of territory in a small amount of time. The rich harmonies and delicate acoustic instrumentation of opener "Frida Kahlo" brings listeners to a sunrise of indie folk, not unlike Sufjan Stevens' Carrie & Lowell. From there, the EP lifts like a pillar of pink smoke. "If You Want It" is the glimmering anthem that would find itself next in que on bedroom pop playlists. The sensual "Crying In Your Sleep" floats like a feather on 90s r&b. The EP's centerpiece "UP," with its warm and billowing loops, will hold a place in the pantheon of chillwave's finest. On closer "The Unheard Choir," lush vocals and smoldering piano bloom into bubbling synth and skittering hi-hat, sealing the best chapter of one of the most thoughtful bands playing today.
